All kinds of riders
Commuters, e-bike riders, road, gravel, mountain and enthusiast riders all deserve serious service.
About James
Blue Nose Bikes is owner-operated by James George, a bicycle-industry professional whose work has centered on listening to riders, solving problems and helping people keep moving.
Started working in bicycles
James began working in the cycling industry in 2009 at Mad Duck Cyclery in Grapevine, Texas. It was a boutique environment where high-end bicycles came through the service department, but so did the bikes local riders depended on every day. That mix mattered: excellent service was not supposed to be reserved for one kind of rider.
In 2011 he attended Barnett Bicycle Institute in Manitou Springs, Colorado, including Bicycle Repair & Overhaul and Selling Service training. He later worked at University Bicycles in Boulder, Colorado, where experienced mentors helped sharpen both his mechanical work and his understanding of what a great service department can be.
Selling service
The most useful service starts before a wrench touches the bike: What does the rider use it for? What is frustrating them? What is their budget? What would make the next month or next year of riding better?
That is the skill Blue Nose is built around — tailoring the repair, parts and future plan to the person rather than simply selling a checklist.
Commuters, e-bike riders, road, gravel, mountain and enthusiast riders all deserve serious service.
Cycling gets stronger when more people feel comfortable participating, asking questions and using shared paths respectfully.
James has taught many people — including kids — to ride and enjoys helping customers understand their bikes.
A mobile service business should feel like a good neighbor: patient, kind, prepared and respectful of the places people live.
